Remoto User Accounts and Access
This article explains how user accounts work in Remoto, the different account types available, and how access to Remoto Playback features is determined.
Account Overview
A Remoto account is required to use any Remoto product, including Playback. Your account is associated with your email address and provides access to the Remoto platform based on your subscription or purchased products.
Account Types
| Account Type | Description | Access Level |
|---|---|---|
| Individual Account | A personal account for a single user. | Access to purchased products and sessions. |
| Team Account | An account managed within a company or team. Access is provisioned by a Team Admin. | Access determined by team subscription and role assignment. |
| Guest Access | Temporary, session-specific access for users invited to join a Playback session. No account purchase required. | View-only access to the specific session they are invited to. |
Product Access
Your Remoto account may include access to one or more Remoto products:
- Remoto Playback (RP) — Real-time synchronized video playback and collaboration
- Remoto Recording (RR) — Session recording and archival
- Remoto Adapt (RA) — Adaptive streaming and delivery

Free Session
New users, when creating a Remoto account, automatically receive 3 free 1 hour sessions. These free sessions provide are fully functional so you can experience Playback before committing to a subscription or purchase.
Account Creation
To create a Remoto account, you need a valid email address. The account creation process includes email verification and password setup. For step-by-step instructions, see Remoto Account Creation and Activation.
Password Management
You can reset your password at any time using the password reset flow. For instructions, see Remoto Account Password Reset.
Access Control
Access to sessions and features is controlled through a combination of:
- Account type — Determines which products you can use
- Session role — Determines what you can do within a specific session (see Playback User Roles)
- Team permissions — For team accounts, access may be further controlled by a Team Admin
