About Remoto Playback Key Features of Playback Desktop Security and Compliance

About Remoto Playback

Playback enables global creative teams to collaborate securely and work together live, in real time, with a studio-quality experience that feels like being on-site. With Playback, all you need is a computer - no dedicated hardware required.

Playback is a macOS desktop application used to stream and receive high-quality audio and video during live collaborative sessions. A companion web application allows invited participants to view streams and join conferencing directly from supported web browsers, providing flexibility for on-the-go participation.

Key Features of Playback Desktop

Playback Desktop provides a full-featured environment for scheduling, hosting, and participating in live streaming sessions, including:

  • Real-time audio and video streaming from any DAW, NLE, or application source available on your computer
  • Integrated conferencing tools, including built-in video chat and participant chat, eliminating the need for a separate conferencing platform
  • Timecoded markers, captured during live sessions and exportable for import into supported DAWs or NLEs
  • Multi-channel audio streaming, supporting up to 16 discrete audio channels* for advanced post-production and immersive audio workflows
  • Flexible Desktop and Web participation, allowing Guests to join sessions via Playback Desktop or a supported web browser, depending on session configuration

Security and Compliance

Playback is MPA-compliant and designed to meet the rigorous security standards adopted by major studios, networks, post-production facilities, and content creators worldwide, including video game developers and advertising agencies.

Security features include:

  • Instantaneous Media Handling, ensuring streamed content is never stored or cached
  • Secure Connection Assurance across all live sessions
  • Role-based access control, including secure login, passcode-controlled session scheduling and starting, waiting rooms, participant chat, and audio/video controls
  • End-to-end encryption, with streams encrypted using AES-256 and uniquely watermarked to ensure content protection and traceability
  • Individual Guest admittance, allowing Organizers to approve participants one by one and prevent unauthorized access
  • TPN, CDSA, GDPR, and HIPAA-compliant cloud infrastructure, deliberately selected to align with the Motion Picture Association’s security guidelines

Playback exclusively uses cloud infrastructure that meets these compliance requirements and was architected specifically for secure real-time collaboration.
