What Is a Stream Settings Preset? When to Use Stream Settings Presets Creating a Stream Settings Preset Using a Stream Settings Preset Apply a Preset to a Scheduled Session Create an Instant Session Using a Preset Editing or Updating a Preset Preset Limitations and Notes

Stream Settings presets allow Organizers to save a complete set of streaming configurations and reuse them for future sessions. Presets are especially useful for workflows that require consistent technical settings and are required when creating Instant Sessions.

Presets are created and managed from the Edit Session Details 2 of 2: Stream Settings window in Playback Desktop.

What Is a Stream Settings Preset?

A Stream Settings preset is a saved configuration that includes:

  • Streaming method (Desktop only or Desktop & browser)
  • Video source selection
  • Audio source selection
  • Audio channel configuration
  • Timecoded marker and sync settings
  • Optional settings such as watermarks

Presets allow Organizers to avoid reconfiguring technical details each time a session is created and help ensure consistency across sessions.

When to Use Stream Settings Presets

Stream Settings presets are recommended when:

  • You frequently run sessions with the same technical setup
  • You want to reduce setup time before going live
  • You plan to use Instant Sessions
  • You want to minimize configuration errors during session creation

Presets can be used for both scheduled sessions and Instant Sessions.

Creating a Stream Settings Preset

To create a Stream Settings preset:

  1. Open Playback Desktop
  2. Navigate to the Dashboard
  3. Create a new session or open an existing session
  4. Open Edit Session Details 2 of 2: Stream Settings
  5. Configure all required stream settings, including:
  • Streaming method
  • Video source
  • Audio source
  • Timecoded marker settings (if needed)
  • Optional features such as watermarks
  1. Review the Settings Summary panel to confirm all selections
  2. Click Save Preset
  3. Enter a name for the preset and confirm

The preset is now saved and available for future use.

Important: Only settings saved from the Stream Settings window are included in a preset. Scheduling details such as date, time, duration, and Guest list are not saved.

Using a Stream Settings Preset

Once created, a Stream Settings preset can be used in two ways:

Apply a Preset to a Scheduled Session

  • Open Edit Session Details 2 of 2: Stream Settings
  • Select a preset from the preset menu
  • Review and adjust settings if needed
  • Save changes before starting the session

Create an Instant Session Using a Preset

  • Click + New Session from the Dashboard
  • Select Instant Session
  • Choose a saved Stream Settings preset

The session is created immediately using the preset’s configuration.

Editing or Updating a Preset

To update a preset:

  1. Apply the preset to a session
  2. Make changes in the Stream Settings window
  3. Save the changes as a new preset (overwriting is not currently supported)

Using descriptive preset names (for example, Editorial Review – Stereo or Mix Review – 5.1) helps Organizers quickly select the correct configuration.

Preset Limitations and Notes

  • Presets are Organizer-specific and tied to the user’s account
  • Presets do not include scheduling or participant information
  • Presets must exist before an Instant Session can be created
  • Presets can be reviewed and adjusted before starting a session
